DHR_2Congratulations Damian! It must feel really great to have managed to turn this season around from a somewhat miserable start?
It feels better then great and it’s amazing we managed to win the title after the technical problems earlier in the season which left us over 50 or so points down from the leaders. Everyone played their part in the team and we are all filled with joy from this success.

Going into the final race, how did the talk go within the DHR camp?

We just stayed positive and focused on beating both DMSv cars in the race, knowing if our luck held out we can win the title.

Did you get nervous after the fairly mediocre qualifying that saw Jack Keithley in 9th and Keith Barrick all the way down in 16th?
I was nervous even before then. In the cockpit I have nerves of steelDHR_Finish_2 but outside of the car am nervous wreck all through qualifying and the race no matter what position(s) we are in.

When in the race did you start to believe that the championship was yours?
Never in the race did I think we where champions, it’s not over until the fat lady sings as they say.
When our cars came round the final corner and crossed the line to finish then all the beliefs and reality kicked in of winning the championship for a second time.

In what parts of this season do you think that you had an advantage over DMSv, RPM and the other opponents?
I think we had an advantage in terms of speed through most of the whole season; obviously the Corvette played into our hands at tracks like Le Mans but other tracks we struggled with the car like at Mugello and the BMW handled the wet conditions better. It pans out over the course of each season. We were the only team to have multiple winners this season and had the most wins which I think shows we had the advantage for this cup in terms of overall speed.

Lo
oking forward to the next season, after winning two successive titles, is the hat trick in your aim now?
I do believe that for the series in general a new winner would be great next season, but of course the hat trick would be great for us but our main goal as always is to have fun and finish anywhere in the top 3.

Within the team, will there be any changes made for the upcoming Blue Cup?
No changes really apart from we should have more drivers available for the team to race and maybe one of our other driver’s will be able to make a debut in STC next season.
