During the last three days, the organization and direction of the Simracing Team Challeng have been meeting at the Paul Ricard circuit in the south of France, to discuss the improvements to be introduced in the following seasons, as well as changes in the rules that will directly impact on the sporting side, especially at the beginning of each race, with the brand new warm up lap system.
We had the opportunity to exchange some words with Xosé Estrada, one of the STC visible heads and the man who originally had the idea of introducing the safety car in the starting procedure.
Press -What do you think is the most important feature the safety car will add in the start of every race?
Xosé - Well, obviously it will add realism and the feeling of being immersed in a real rolling start.
Press - Some other reasons why to introduce this change?
Xosé - We were under obligation to add this feature because this is the starting system normally used in GT racing, but the rolling start system the simuator offered was not the optimum one. So this was obviously the best option.
In Paul Ricard we had also the chance to watch the Safety Car drivers making some test laps, trying to find the best pace, and some live comunication test with Race Control. The truth is that we have been pleasantly surprised, and it seems that these guys have the whole process under control.
![]() Press - What to comment about the restriction on participation for drivers?
Xosé - This is David García´s work, to find the best sporting code, we discuss it and he made the decision, because obviously, this is a team challenge and we could not let a pilot repeat each race. But even with that, the restriction have not been that hard. There are teams with many drivers but there are also limited teams, with 5 or 6 drivers available. We had some feedback in the comunity, and some Team Spokesman helped us finding that solution, we use to have a very good feeback always.
As an advance, the organization confirmed us the downloads for next season will be available next week in the site download section, including the new MODs, a Skining Package with Templates, Tutorials, Logos, Numberplates, etc.
More to come, stay tunned!
