Race one of the season has finished and what a race it was as the GT Sport cars hit the tarmac of Watkins Glen. Damian Dainhumain for GMT-DH Racing would take the pole and quite un-distracted go for the win but behind him was where all the fighting happend. Karl Dubois, racing for GMT-DHR's sister team DHR Fanatec, would bring home the silver medal to his team as he held of a late charging Dave Nicol (The Black Rebels).

Nicol, who started in 21st after not setting a time in qualifying, fought his way up the scoring board throughout the entire race and was right behind Dubois when the chequred flag was waved. Defending champions Roaring Pipes Maniacs with Yoeri Gijsen and Kevin Asher behind the wheels would finish 4th and 5th despite Yoeri spinning in the mid stages. The two RPM driver was fighting with Ben Buitendijk (The Black Rebels) for the most part of the first stint but Ben hit some trouble in the pits and would have to settle for 6th.

The Burning Tires driver, Alessandro Mura, managed to hold of Mikael Larsson (Blue Flag Racing) to finish the race in 7th. Panu Ronkainen (GMT-DHR), David Lemon (Team Northern Ireland) and Bryan Stark (FO Junior) all had a late race battle to end 9th, 10th and 11th.
