Mikko Korkiakoski took his second win off the season for his Gameracer FOR team when STC had its first dry race of the season at the narrow Trois-Rivieres street circuit. Backmarkers played a huge part in the events of the race. Gubbklubbens Peter Carlsson was leading from pole position closely followed by Korkiakoski when both were taken for a ride lapping AnE driver Chris File, handing the lead to Rickard Hellsten. Carlsson took the lead again after the pitops but later got cought up in a backmarker battle between The Black Rebels Andreas Hultgren and Black Visor Motorsports Bob Hutchins. Carlsson managed to get by Hultgren in turn two when his countryman left the door open. Hutchins saw his chance to overtake and while doing so he missed his braking point into turn three spinning Carlsson into the wall. This left Korkiakoski in a position he couldn't lose. Carlsson managed to finish second despite the incident. Hellsten had to settle for another podium for Torrent Motosport, only three seconds behind Carlsson. Corse Online had one of their best STC races ever as Alessio Lucchesi and teammate Nicola Dorigatti finished 4th and 6th making them climb up to 6th in the standings. Between the two italians where Göran Johansson for Gubbklubben. Adam Shaw (Gameracer FOR) finished 7th only a few seconds off Dorigatti. Rami Kaukola was the best Roaring Pipes Maniac today with 8th place. He managed to fend off David Garcia (The Black Rebels) who was on a charge near the end of the race. Kaukolas teamate and countryman Jari Vinnari brought the second RPM Doran over the line in 10th, two seconds clear off Project D's Gregory Cogotti. |
